Hi Karen,

I hope you don’t mind that I’m reaching you via comments. Substack has limited my direct messages today to notify you that I’ve included you in my post.

I’ve included Karen Dawn of DawnWatch - the Daily Animal World News Watch in my new post listing over 200 vegan resources on Substack. I hope you like it! I’m hoping to help readers discover more of the vegan publishing community here.

Here’s the link if you’d like to take a look:

Please let me know if you’d like any updates or edits to your entry. If you feel this guide is useful, you’re welcome to share or restack so others can find it too. But no worries if not. Thanks for doing everything you do! Have a wonderful day.

The middle lane is a place to see both side more clearly…

"But if we hope to reach across the divide, on behalf of animals or any other issue, we must learn to be honest without being insulting."

It took me a long time to learn that lesson, Karen! Our success depends on our ability to connect with people in a genuine way, to introduce ideas unapologetically and opens hearts to new possibilities. You do that well.

You are a master at building bridges, Karen, and I consider you one of my favorite writers.

Well said, Karen. I would argue that since I've known you, you have definitely been trying to make the world a better place for animals' sake but the byproduct of that work is a more ethical and compassionate world for all. I look forward to you sharing more insight on this platform.

Happy October First Birthday!! 🥳🍰💝🐶

My firstborn daughter just celebrated her October First 50th Birthday!! 🥰

My 3 kids and I have been rescuing and rehabbing stray dogs and cats since 1986. Due to health reasons, I’ve had to forego fostering, but thank God I’m still able to care for my last rescue, Spencer the 15-year-old LhasaPoo, who showed up at my house 6 years ago now. He’s the mellowest dog, perfect for my old age. 🐶

I’ve been inspired by your newsletters for over a decade, maybe longer, so it’s a real honor to subscribe to your new Substack. Welcome, Karen! 💙

As in Karen's book "Thanking the Monkey" we are treated to sound, illuminated logic that moves like a Gazelle but pummels like a heavyweight. Those adverse to balanced reporting, or those who favor shrill partisan buzzwords, should come prepared for a sturdy dose of reasoned arguments. You'll be the better for it.

Happy, happy birthday friend. I so appreciate you and your commitment to accuracy and diplomacy, especially within nuanced conversations in this polarized political environment. I look forward to reading (and learning) more. Well done!
